Thanks
Been dealing with spodylolythisis most of my life. Basically a grade 2 now in the S1-L5. Stability is an issue, nerve impingement, all treatments have failed so a fusion with rods and screws is the final option. I was told 12 week recovery.

Rick, good luck with your back.

Sorry to hear Rickman - I have been in constant and occasionally intolerable pain for much of this year.

We should send the strippahs to your house??

12 weeks is what it would take to get back to an IT job like mine. I still can't lift up my 40 pound kid and I'm 6 months out.

Sounds like you're gonna get a PLIF if it's with the rods and screws, right? The PLIF is an even longer road, because they peel the erector spinae muscles off your spine and they need to grow back, too.

I took the ALIF approach because the fusion rate is better, I'm relatively young, and don't smoke.

I got Bell's Palsy three months in and was on Prednisone for a month. I wonder if it killed the bone grafts. Who knows.

Anyway, the new one should give me the stability I need without the fusion. Healing is quick, I hear, too.

Good luck too. Looking more and more like I will be at the TFCTFN, too. My doctor's assistant who schedules the surgeries won't be back till Monday, so I doubt they can get me in in two weeks.

John, no strippahs. I am old man, with simple tastes, who moves slow. I am easy prey for them.
