Small darters.

If, however, you really want to tong small fish day or night then a fly rod is the way to go.

small spro bucktails either chartreuse or white
small storm wildeye shads
clouser flies

I like to use low impact lures - single hook - for less damage to the schoolies

I hope I don't seem like I am bragging. But I will, my average river fish is 15# in the Spring. I have lost a fish of a life time in the last days of April first days of May to river current and being under gunned. I fish larger profile lures to weed the schoolies out.

Yellow,white,and olive over a combination of both.Black or blurple at night.Don't forget the worm hatch in the upper rivers at[new moon] night.
