Fenway going anti smoking
Both the players and fans will face a $250 fine if they use smokeless tabbacoo (chewing or e-cigs) inside the park. This goes for any event at Fenway, they don't want the children exposed to these products and thus they banned them.

Fine by me, I think adults with edits/vaping in front of kids is just as bad as smoking and spitting chew into a bottle is pretty gross.

I am OK with getting rid of the smokes and vapes. Frankly Vaping Hipster Lumberjacks are pretty annoying.

I'm sure once they release the studies on second hand beer and soda, they'll ban those at the ball park.

They don't mind exposing kids to drunks but someone chewing tobacco is harmful.

When's the last time you went to a Red Sox game? And if it was during the last few years, did you see a lot of obnoxious drunks that offended your sensibilities?

I was one of the drunks who would pound the beers there. I just feel it is bullchit to claim people chewing tobacco or vaping is harmful to our children and yet the alcohol consumption is just fine for them to see.
I stopped going after they banned smoking. They wouldn't let you smoke anywhere and if you stepped out of the park you weren't allowed back in. I am sick and tired of the totalitarian type mentality.

Exactly, it's pretty rare. What sends a better message than drunks getting escorted out?

You're 100% wrong on that. There are, and have always been smoking areas for customers since they banned smoking inside the park. And just because you couldn't behave when you were drinking doesn't mean someone who wants to have a couple drinks shouldn't be able to. My son just turned 11 and he's been going to games since he was 4. Never have I felt that someone was acting inappropriately in front of him. It's worse at big shopping malls.

Where are the designated smoking areas at the park?
What harm is the person chewing tobacco doing compared to the person drinking?
100% wrong about what.
Wait until they come after caffeine, in case you didn't know it has been linked to breast cancer.

I understand that you just like to argue, but you're totally missing the point here. There have been smoking areas just outside the gates, and more recently outside the park in the area that's closed off to game day traffic. As for chewing tobacco, it's not allowed because they can't have stadium staff checking ID's of people who look underage and are dipping. And as Spence mentioned, it's gross. And I dipped for years until my dentist sent me in for a biopsy.
And your caffeine argument is nonsensical. Are you going to come up with a list of all things that could possibly be linked to cancer and ban them?
You seem to be reaching just to argue here, and you've missed the really obvious and simple answer as to why the Red Sox have the rules that they have.

Just because you don't agree with my opinion doesn't make it an argument. I am sick and tired of all the hypocrites who feel they never do wrong and it is the other people who are causing the problem.
What harm does a person vaping or chewing tobacco cause to others?
Meanwhile exposing kids to alcohol is looked at as harmless.
Did you know 33 percent of heavy smokers don't die from smoking related illness and live to 85 or older.
Here are some facts about alcohol you may find interesting
http://www.cdc.gov/alcohol/fact-sheets/alcohol-use.htm
By the way I am a former binge drinker (20+ years of being a "functional drunk") so I have experience with it's adverse effects. I still drink a few now and then but have learned getting hammered gets me no where I want to be.

Again, you're totally missing the reason that tobacco and vaping is banned and alcohol is not. It very simple and obvious.

It might be nice if you would explain why then. Contrary to your opinion of me I am open minded enough to read it, although chances are I may respond.

I dont think you're not open minded.
And the answer is money. Think about how much the team makes on alcohol sales.

I thought you were addressing why they banned the smokeless tobacco.
We are in agreement on why they allow the alcohol but to me I find it hypocritical to allow the alcohol but ban the chew or vaping. I think it goes to far infringing on a person's freedom to partake in a legal activity, especially one that has no impact on others.
At some point someone has to speak up or eventually they will come after something you legally enjoy doing. I do smoke and go out of my way to keep it from impacting others, my pockets always have the field stripped filters when I can't dispose of them properly. I am just fed up with all the smoking Nazis attacking me and others for doing something that is legal. Now they come after people vaping or chewing which have no effect on those around them. What about the fact that vaping doesn't always contain nicotine it may be just a flavor that the user finds enjoyable/calming. The water vapor that is exhaled contains nothing harmful to others.

Unless someone wants to give me free tickets, I won't be going there anytime soon. I can get a better view of the field from my living room. There's no line for the bathroom, no line for food and drink, the food selection is much better, and since I don't drink or smoke the rules wouldn't apply to me.
I had toyed with the idea of taking my nephew to a game, but then I realize what the entire deal would cost, and I figure I could get him a jersey at the mall and watch the game at home and save $100's...

I believe that because chewing tobacco is in the same class as cigarettes, they can't allow one and not the other. I'm not a big fan of seeing knocked over cups or bottles of dip spit, but I used to be the guy who had water bottles full of it rolling around the floor of my car and on the table while playing cards with my buddies. I think it's gross now, but I don't tell anyone else not to do it around me.

Tickets aren't that expensive if you look on the resale sites, and the food is pretty good there now. They've really expanded the menus and have a lot of choices. I guess parking sucks, but you could take the T in. I don't know what it costs in the lots around the park because I have a pass for the BU lots and garages.
