I have been fishing hard on the outer cape, and i've been the only one out there except for a few bass in the 20lb class. The past few days have produced more tiny fish (west wall size), than keepers. This past week not one fish came on eels they all came on my favorite plug. My buddy dave recomended a new pattern for me to try, and it caught 3 to 1 from the usual straight black. Black caught all small fish and the other pattern caught smalls and keepers. Any how, were at the end of october and the outer beaches are loaded with tiny bass, does that mean the chances of a 50lb'er have came and went or am I in for another big push. Some people say small first then large last, but what I saw was large first then small last. The other thing is the water temp has sharply decreased by about 6 degrees in the past week. Biologically speeking smaller fish can handle colder temps better than larger ones due to the physiological science of body size and lengths of circulatory system.

What do you think?

Yep - fish are all gone 'cept for dink schoolies. Everyone should pack away the gear and think skiing in the mountains

Gotta get back into a kickboxing mode soon. I will gofor cods and smelts on Marina Bay in Nov.

That is so true, but hey, I am learning. I ain't giving up, that's a good start. That's because my plan messed up.

Yo, Saltyhart, I got a southbend manufactured rod that holds lures from 3/8-1 1/2 oz and it is stiff and fast action. It seems to be good with popping a small plugs or darts. However, the reel sucked and my guides have some mold on them and seemed to be weak. Is it possible if I can have a rod builder like you to remove all of them and preplace with fuji guides? I know it costs money, but I think there is a potential in that rod. Plus I got a 9 ft stilstar rod for chunking and it always makes line wrapping on my tip. Any comment on that?

I can't speak for the cape but now is the time to fish and it should hold out until mid to late Nov. I know its snowing out today but I dont think it will matter. I had my best night of the year two days ago.
I'll ponder quitting for the year when I'm sleeping off my belly full of turkey!

Notaro - I have not met a rod manufactured in South Bend worth rewrapping - unless Snoopy has some sentimental value for you... However, it might be worth it to you to learn how to wrap oine in your spare time over the winter. All you need is rodwrapping thread (MUST be rodwrapping), half dozen wire coat hangers, rod wrapping epoxy, a smooth pen, and clean / new guides . You also need to check out "Clemmens - Advanced Rod Building" from the library (or buy it)

Notaro , John gave you the answere. Its just not worth the expense to rewrap a SouthBend rod.
