My job is pretty inconsistent in terms of workload. I'll be really busy with a couple projects for a few weeks, then totally dead for a few weeks.
When I'm busy, I'll pop in a couple times a week during lunch or whatever just to make sure I'm not missing anything huge like massive blitzes of 30lbers in the harbor, but maybe a half hour a day.
During the downtime, I'll check out a few sites and spend a couple hours on the net. I really don't surf much. I check a few sports sites, weather, news, and of course, here.
At home, I do zero internet time unless I'm checking email or have some specific bit of knowledge I'm looking for (i.e. steamship authority, flight info, etc.)
If I have free time at home, which is never, I'll be outside working in the yard or on the house or boat.
I think the net is a great resource, but I also think its overrated. I don't look at it as a hobby as some folks I know do. To kill time at work during slow time is one thing, to do it at home... sorry, I have about a thousand things I'd rather do and "have to" do first.
