				The Banana Plug

The banana has seen a resurgence in popularity the last few years, and The Fisherman's annual Plug Building Series included an updated version of the banana this month written by Dave Anderson. He also provided a downloadable template to assist in the top and side profiles of the plug which we have posted at the following link.http://www.thefisherman.com/index.cf...05&ParentCat=2 |

				 | And still the best one out there. 🍌
I think most of the hoopla is because of the fancy paint jobs and ridiculously crazy prices for them. I never see a soul fish them.

				 | How do you fish them? Similar to a glide bait? |

				 | They don't glide much........they veer instead. They need plenty of rod tip action.
I've had success with very fast and very slow retrieves.
At speed they go subsurface and the good ones develop a little vibratory action.
At moderate speeds (and various weighting schemes) they work subsurface like a slow darter.
At slow speed (and again various weighting schemes) they can be worked on top with a lot of tail thrashing.

These are fun and challenging plugs to fish.....exactly because it is up to you to create the action. They are not, however, anything magical. Indeed, nowadays you'll very likely catch more fish throwing a Sebile Stick Shad or Magic Swimmer (which didn't exist obviously when Frech invented this plug) than these things.

				 | It should be of no surprise to anyone /But I have never seen a glider in person ..all I see are a lot of awesome looking plugs on a plug site on facebook ......... the paint jobs are the best I,ve ever seen of anything ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but there is no way your gonna tell me that it really makes a difference to the bass [f uck Bloofish] . I,ve seen some /many nice bass caught on all the standard colors /many that have been around since the time of [paint] .many were caught with plugs ya couldn,t even guess what there color was originally .........anyway back to the beginning ..do gliders work ???? never saw one fished or in a tackle bag / box ................just another stupid question .................BUT .... the trout colored ones I used today the holdovers slammed until dark ......... oops they [WERE} real ones . I thought opening day was yesterday .either I have to be very careful or wait until next Saturday until I get some more trout colored bait |
