JAP WRAP
Went to RISSA yesterday and did the norm checking out all that was there. I notice many rod butts using the Japanese wrap shrink wrap. I always like the feel and it's grip. Tried to find a supplier and no avail. I used Xwrap, electrical shrink wrap, rod wrap etc. Anyone have a clue where to purchase Japan wrap? I once was told it's only available overseas.

Kind of along this line,,,,
I've often thought about using a golf grip for rod butts..
I see it today at Risaa.... When I golfed I regripped with oversized once,,, didn't help, I still sucked at it. :-)

Drew , I would be interested when you get it. Hopefully its the right one. I like the feel of it. I think a grip w/o sanding the smooth wrap currently used is a plus.

i will try to bring a piece to the next meeting. i ordered a couple of different types of shrink tubing on amazon. of the 3 or 4 that i got i ended up using one of them on 2 rods i built this winter. it's brand new to me, haven't fished the rods yet. i may end up hating it. i'm debating using it on the next rod, not sure yet.

Hard to tell in picture. Is that shrink wrap dull and textured?

yeah, pics kind of suck, best i could get. the wrap has no texture on its own - smooth but not slick.

Ed personally no. The rod was built for a friend and loves the feel and grip. Slightly more grip than the X wrap. Much better grip than the standard commercial shrink wrap.

Thanks Bill,
I am waiting for delivery of stock. I have a few rods to try it on. Did you underwrap the shrink tube with the chord as you mentioned earlier?
