I emailed them years ago, urging them to go "no Kill" format... even cancelled my subscription. Bravo... Better late than never, should have been done years ago. I suspect the decision is based on the possibility that more people have now opted out of the kill format tourny, and this change will keep the tournament from going under (basically saying they really have no choice if they want to stay alive).
I'm not being cynical or negative, thats just a common sense conclusion from my perspective ... They have been aware of state of the fishery for years.

A high-profile influential platform like OTW magazine should always be at the forefront of advocating a healthy fishery, not the last one to the party.

No, just no more by weight, they still can be kept.

exactly.

They contacted me this fall about running an article about me and my artwork. As I new artist I definitely could have used the exposure...

however I declined, and politely reminded them about their "yes you can eat albies" article. between the magazine, the tourney, their spot burning BS report video reports etc....

I'm not sorry, #^&#^&#^&#^& those guys. All they care about is $$$, and they did this simply because they had no other choice....not because they actually have some morals... all they did was add some BS marketing 101 speak making themselves look good and patting themselves on the back...

Funny. One of their senior editors also contacted me last year to write a series of articles about the "old days" fishing the surf on The Back. I said "nope".

No boat, back in the suds.
