Miss going in the QL and BS'ing with Steve. Picking his brain. One of the good guys. Im only 37 but seems like a long time ago. Miss those surf nights. I still fish a decent amount and will really hit it when the fish show up in my neck of the woods, but since havin a family I really enjoy the boating aspect as well. We spend weekends on the boat going to block island and MV, hanging at the marina. And guess what...… Sometimes I don't even bring a rod!!!

It has nothing to do with my age as I work harder and more now than ever and I'm 71. I also play golf 2 or 3 days a week. It has to do with the fact that my beloved Stripers are in real trouble.....AGAIN!
I know, I know, there are other fish. When I fished 100 nights a year, I fished for Stripers. I'm not interested in Fluke or Scup or BSB. I use to pride myself on being a Striper fisherman. Perhaps I am being myopic. That's my prerogative.
I think everyone will agree that fishing isn't what it once was. On top of the stocks in trouble, we have the seals taken over the Outer Cape, the plovers on The Back and restrictive forces closing beaches in RI and ROWS.
So there Cool Beans. That's my 2 cents.

PLUS 2 MR. PIEMMA. +2.
But: I have not stopped fishing. I am 72; therefore, you and I will be dead before any of today's 15-20 inch yearlings are 40 pound fish. I am fishing over an ever dwindling number of viable adult fish. You should keep going as there is no second chance.
Separately, I took a 41" just under 31 lb. bass this AM. My first over 30 this year! You gotta be kidding? And we had a methodical and beautiful release; but this example means nothing to the witnessing crowds and hoards of people present, to whom the resource means nothing other than a $$$ sign, or a brag, or a meal far inferior to a 12 lb. fish.

A very sour SauerKraut.
