Same here. Quit 3 years ago and I will not go back to being part of the problem. Until they give Stripers Game Fish status, I'm out.

I used to fish comm and fished for stripes exclusively. Now I go for bass about 5 times a year. I would rather fish for what’s there.

My 2 boys are finally getting old enough to hit the surf with me at night, (as i always looked forward to having them as fishing partners) and this year there wasn't enough action to hold their interest and get them "hooked". I fear that surfcasting for striped bass will ultimately be a campfire story that dad tells. It's really sad to watch such an amazing past time, that has given me so much, dwindle away year by year.

There is NO cure for stupid and when it comes to managing this resource, we just never learn from our mistakes. My old fishing milk run was Scituate to Cohasset and occasionally up to Hull. Back in the day a slow day was around 50-70 fish with a number of keepers mixed in and then a good day turned into a handfull of fish. At that point I flipped to Westport and a better mix of potential species to fish for and I'm still loving that area.
OTW recently addressed the decline and boasted they are doing their part, by making their tourney a no kill; have to wonder if the killing is still being done by the handling required to enter anyway. Thankfully at this point in my life, I'm actually more interested in what my tee times are for my three weekdays with my golfing buddies.

On the water boasting they are doing their part is such a joke! They refused to end the Kill tourny for YEARS, and only recently did so because they HAD to, since the majority of people adjusted their own habits and refused to enter a kill tourny.
I give on the water magazine a rating of "three middle fingers" for finally now pretending like they care about the fish. Anyone with their eyes open knows they follow the money... Where were they when we were all sending them emails, talking to them at Risaa, and unsubscribing? pffffffffff

there were several local guys who participated in the CnR portion of the OTW contest- even they stopped.
(not because of their conscience, but mostly 'cuz there weren't any fish to remain competitive....)

Looked like the majority was in favor of 1 @ 34” for 2020
I’m in favor of a slot,,, 28 to 34”
Instead oh messing with the fish, how about messing with fishermen (women), a season, limited days, lottery
