There is no difference between beach and surf fishing, I think that needs no clarification and I am with Beachwalker on the "bridgefishing" thing Boatfishing- Yup, caught a boat once!

Well if that's the case. I want a " Put a clam on a hook and sit my fat behind on a chair, have a drink and wait for a fish forum."
|
" You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it a Sea Monkey."

And to answer Jenns question:
To me Surf fishing is any fishing done on the coastline of the sea or arms of the sea excluding rivers, harbors, estuaries, etc.
Surf fishing is what it is. Rock/Jetties, piers, beaches, cliffs. You know what I mean. ALL of that could have surf.
But do you drive out onto that spot ? That is my question for the potential forum.
I see what people mean about keeping it all in one. It works so why screw with it. I just believe that some of us are primarily focused on 4wd access issues everytime we fish and that has a tremendous amount of residual information that goes along with it. Especially info on wheres, hows and whens.
This site is tremendous as it is and that is an answer unto itself.

Surf fish don't count, play in the sand, maybe get some spray in your face, come on. I like getting vertical, gear pounding to the point of breaking loose, face so wet you can't see that ledge ahead, fog bank coming and gps just went down, prop just lost a blade in the dark now what, squal line blowing in fast 10 mile run to port, can you say horizontal rain.
Winter, stir the pot, stir the pot .

I have had requests for Yaking, Beach Buggy, Freshwater, groundfish, (one for locked access over two particular bridges ) and a couple others I can't think of.
My opinion the two major categories of saltwater fishing are boat fishing (must be done from boat) and shore fishing, oddly enough coming from the shore. By basic definition surfcasting is a subset of shore fishing. Not all shore anglers are surfcasters but all surfcasters are shore anglers. Boaters can be river, offshore, inshore and then divied up into presentations, bait, artifical, fly and shore anglers can be divied up the same way too. You can be in the salt or in fresh or even dig a hole thru the ice, or....

john, can you set up the message board so that everyone can have their own forum? this would end all the headaches associated with people not knowing where to post things. we would be able to talk about anything we wanted to in our own forum, without cluttering up everyone else's forums.

Hey I've fished the beach with a guy with pink paints, does that make me gay? Since I go both ways boat/surf, does that make me bi? Oh no, I'm starting to sound like Ben, how does one change log on id's so I can post mindless dribble and stir the pot more .
