Shocking day. We just got off the Cutty water taxi when we heard the news. Kinda knock down our high from weekend. Have a couple of Johns needles to remember him. Many of us builders found inspirations from John.
One tip I got from John in my early years learning to fish needles. I asked him.how do u keep them up since they sank . John tells me once the plug hits the water come tight ( mpu reel makes this happen quicker) then reel quick to get it up then slow down retrieve, real slow!
To this day I use that tip and advise other new anglers to try this .

One of my best friends. He helped me load a door in my truck 2 days before he passed. I wrote a story entitled Fresh Pond Habs published in The Fisherman.

No boat, back in the suds.
