trolling motor
So I am looking to get ready for some off season improvements the 1st is radar and the benefit is instant (safety) .. but the 2nd requires a bit more of a conversation of the Benefits VS Cost
So here is the set up 72in shaft 24V 80lb of thrust ($ 2900.00) on my 234 sea hunt (lite boat like 2500 lbs ) and 24v 50AH lithium Battery they are like 1000.00 and weigh 31lbs
2 agm blue tops are 120lbs and still 750 bucks... and where to put them
Not sure if anyone is running one of these bow mounted set ups and if they are happy or just ok , or it it provided any benefit at all
Because I am thinking where i fish in the river. The ability to camp on a spot and school of bass seabass or tog rather than run up and drift back 100 times hoping i hit the correct drift . same with haddock or even holding waiting for pogies to come by ..
What I am trying to avoid is spending all that cash to use it maybe hell i could buy a nice 130 set up for Tuna for 1\2

Is this like a build-your-own SPOT-Lock system?
Doesn't seem like you're too far off the cost from one of those...
I've really been thinking about it...but at the same time, almost feel ready for a few more feet of hull - -

Id rather get a few more feet 26 would be great but not looking to spend 100k and thats looking used
it has the spot lock feature built in looking https://www.rhodanmarine.com/ most places are out of stock of any other brand or size . if I wait till March there will be non available . |

You want 36v. Rhodans have sketchy reliability. I'd get a longer shaft also. 72 is likely a tad short.

36v just no place to put 3 batteries
I went on a few seahunt sites same model as me say they run the 72 no issue maybe in bad chop they get the prop out of the water sometimes .. and the. Lithium 24v 50ah run around a grand saw some 100ah for the same price Amazon
As for reliable seems MK and others all have their fan boys and haters we will see

I haven't bought a trolling motor yet but keep thinking of doing it for this spot lock feature. It's quite the game changer for all kinds of fishing but a little pricey. In searching for info, alot of the problems I see online is with the auto deploy. Heard it's best to keep manual deploy. |

Yes I was looking at a Manual deployment model. Another issue I’ll have to move my nav lights to the rub rail or a removable set on a post
