So we need a rod discussion thread to lead me in the right direction to replicate these old blanks we were so happy with... I can only imagine with lighter single foot guides they might even be improved.
Mike, I have always referred to this piece you wrote. It was great then, and I hope to be able to find the same performance in a new blank/rod
The reels I used then make me chuckle now. When I sold the 1087 Sabre, I think I was using a Saragossa 8000 on it. And it was before the new generation of high-end spinning reels.

I actually got out in my wetsuit earlier this season fishing from shore for the first time in 3 years? Had a great night and it felt amazing! 8 slot fish in about an hour before the bite died! Been kayak fishing mostly the past 3-4 years!
