Chasing flags
Back to back weekends of chasing flags on the south shore, that’s the way I like to get through winter. Today was cold and windy but fish were eating 3 bass,3picks and a couple perch. all good sized but no monsters. Back at it tomorrow. 5” black ice, but other side of pond still had areas of open water.

Thanks man, this ice is a gift. 18 below 👀 how thick is that ice? I use a hand auger, I’d be dead after one hole. Good luck and stay warm.

12"..with 10" of snow on top, I'm on a 4 wheeler, heated helmet and grips, hole covers on the holes zippo hand warmers help with th set up, I use a Ion these days, but the gear oil was too thick and it wouldn't turn, I carry a eskimo pistol drill flighting powered by a Milwaukee 18 volt drill as a back up and my run "n" gun set up, that cut my holes until it got above 0 and the Ion started to work..its definitely not for the faint of heart.

A good run is better than a bad stand!

Got my 4 & 7 y/o out with my dad today. 7" of ice in central CT. The boys went 5 for 7 on flags, all LMB nothing big. I have the Ion as well, gen 1 on it's 4th or 5th season.
