Hi I home from the Hositpal!!
Thanks all for your concern!!
I am home now after a 4 day stay at the hospital..
I guess what happened is that I got this little pimple on my neck that hurt like hell!! I tried to pop and it would not go?? But with out knowing it, it popped inward to the body. Being that I am a Diabetic I am prone to infections. Well from there it just started to grow in size. From a pimple on Friday to a 3” area on Monday!! But I just said it will be alright!!
Then Mon. night started fever and chills, “just give me some aspirin” I told my wife and I went to bed. Then on Tue. I had bad chills that just kept coming!! Felt like I was holding on to a Jack Hammer!! Wife said I calling the doctor!! I said NO! I will be fine I just have a bug or something?
Wed. Fever of 104.3, chills, can no longer move my neck!! Ok, Ok call the Doctor! Went to see him and he said you have an infection under the skin and we need to start you on a antibiotic right away!! And sent me home.
Fri. Still fever chills and neck hurting like hell!! Call the doc and he is not in. So the nurse said you might have to have that drained and it is too big to do here. Go to the ER and they will cut and drain for you. Ok this does not sound good to me but I go anyway?? When I get there they cut it open and must have been a quart of crap come out of it!! They give me IV antibiotic and send me home and tell me to come back on Sunday for a redrain.
Sunday I go back and they do what they got to do and send me home again. But I was not feeling good and the fever was getting worse as was the chills!! So Sunday night I head back to the ER and they admit me with some IV antibiotic again.
Mon. the doctors come in and check me out and have a specialist look at me and he said it was real bad and they would have to do surgery to open it all the way up to get the crap out! So they take me down to the op. room and start cutting!! What they found was that the infection was about 4 inches down and about 6 inches wide in the muscle of the neck! But he assured me that they got it all and I would have to stay in the hospital till fri with Iv to make sure that they kill it.
Well as you see I am doing better then they thought and they let me come home a day early!! But when they did the test on the sample they took they found that it is a Staph Worriers Infection and I will need at least 3 weeks of IV to make sure they kill the whole thing!! So I have a nurse coming to the house 2 times a day to give me my meds. I also still have this huge whole in my neck which is packed with some stuff and I will have to go to the doc. On Monday for a repack and this will go on for about 10 days before it will be closed up!!
So I am home and even though I will be kind of house bound its better then sitting in that Hospital!!
Thanks all Later!

There's never anything good about staph infections.
I'm glad you're on the road to recovery, just hope that your nurse doesn't end up looking like Ms. Ballbrecker (from Porky's)
Enjoy the game Sunday, and GET WELL SOON!!!

*ouch* Man I hope you are feeling better!
I have my own horror story to tell you about a diabetic relative of mine who went in to have an infected foot looked at. It got infected after a hairline fracture. At the time my relative didn't even know she was diabetic.
The podiatric resident looked at the foot and tried to drain the infected pus by squeezing it out in the E.R.
Turns out the resident made it worse, and my relative almost lost her foot because of that screwup!
Needless to say, she is much more careful with anything that can lead to a major infection - even a little scratch.

Thanks all!!
I have to wear a little bag 24/7 for the next 21 days. It has a I/V bag in it and a small pump. It comes on every 8 hours and pumps a dose of antibiotics in. Has to be refilled every 48 hours
I also get a vist from the visting nurse twice daliy to change the bandages on my neck.
So if everything goes right, I will get a clean bill of health and get detached from my I/V bag just in time for the big wing ding on the 21st!!
Now just have to figure out what I am going to do for 21 days?? I was going to build a new Fluke rod but with this pic line in my arm I have a litte bit of a hard time bending my arm?? I set a rod up and tryed and it don't seem like it will work out to good and I also have to carry this bag all around with me with 3 1/2 feet of line.
I can clean some reels as long as I am cearful not to get any of that crap on me.
I guess I will have to read and play with the puter!!
Later
