Braid to me is a matter of getting used to each lines particular pros and cons. I started with 30# original (not stealth) spiderwire on my spinners and I'm still using it. Yeah it get's an occassional wind knot, but that's usually my fault for not inspecting the spool before starting any retreive, yeah it gets frayed (looking), but I'm still fishing line that's almost 4 years old, so I'm not complaining. I put some 50 lb stealth on the 6000 stradic and so far so good, although I'm betting I'd add 50 feet with original 40#, it's just that much limper. I think some reels are just more braid friendly and the Shimano Stradics I use seem to handle it well, as did the baitrunners before them.
