Geez, between that fruity emoticon and all of these Sally drinks you guys are coming up with, I think I may just continue fishing alone a little while longer.

My favorite mixed drink is beer cause you can only get so much in a glass.

Bartenders I knew around town used to think they were doing me a favor trying to put a pint of rum in a 14 oz glass for me. Hell, if I wanted a pint of rum on the rocks with a splash of tonic, I woulda asked for it. Three drinks like that and you look around and realize 'Holy ****, I'm gooned'.

So consequently, I quit drinking Mt Gay - yeah, yeah, I know the yachtie connotation there, but I started drinking it when I lived in St. Croix because it was a hell of a lot better than Cruzan or Bacardi, and almost as cheap. It also came in an attractive half-gallon bottle with a tin top (that's the 90 proof, too, not the 80 proof you now get in the US).

Anyways, the best name for a mixed drink I ever heard (and I've been a bartender for 30 years off and on) was a shot called an L.P.R. (Liquid Panty Remover). A girl who was a bartender from Louisiana told me about that one.

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.
