Are you his employer, former employer, clergy, teacher, attorney etc? I thought the letter of rec. had to come from someone affiliated with the applicant, not just a friend.

Anyway, try this approach: Write it from the POV of an applicationt o graduate school. Many grad schools, especially business schools, require a letter of rec. from an employer or former employer (don't ask me why). So think in terms of all the good things you'd say about him if he were applying to advanced schooling.

Specialist....Thats cool....My father is an NRA instructor too....

Too bad there are people who think he is an awful person because he owns guns........ And (god forbid) teaches a safety course (you know that teaches the criminals how to shoot right???)

Yes there are many out there who despise us. That's ok though the people that matter most love us, and thats what counts. Safety courses should be attended by anyone who wants to know about how to safely handle a gun. Whether you want to get a permit or not. I think that all parents , gun owners or not, would benefit from a gun safety course.

Specialist, I think the people that hate cops are usually criminals, so screw 'em.

I really appreciate the job you guys do and don't share that anti-police sentiment. I always wanted to be a cop growing up and it still runs threw my mind from time to time.

I also teach my kid that you guys are the good guys!

Funny story. My wife got nailed for running a red light a few years ago. So she's griping and moaning about the police... I ask her why she went thru the redlight. She says I was going to fast to stop Can someone explain that dopey comment to me? Oh, because you were speeding, you couldn't safely stop at the light? That makes a whole lot of sense. Must be the darn police!

Seriously, deep down, even the people who complain about the police darn well appreciate that your out there putting it on the line.

Thanks.

Im a son of a cop and not a "criminal" . But lets not go there .

specialist isnt a cop hes a telephone guy so if you have a problem with your phone bill hes the one to complain too . Just remember he has a gun permit and is an instuctor , Only Kidding Bill I took that flap for years " its your fault my phone bill is so high " "sorry lady you need to learn to shut that yap before your bill will go down " .

People that dont like gun safty instuctors dont understand how important those instructors are . Damn do gooders are clueless !!! We have the right to bear arms But we should at least have a clue on how to be safe and not a danger to ourselves or others . Just back ewhen the laws were written it was a differant world .

you know I think its really sad when accidents happen with kids and all......but the funny thing is when I was a kid (and there were ALWAYS guns in the house) We all knew WHERE they were, WHAT they were, and what they DID!!!!! and we never thought about playing with them!!!!!! Even at a early age we were taught safety!!!!!! we didnt even THINK about touching one until he felt we were old enough.....He even PAID for me to take HIS course when I was 16!!!!!

obviously there ARE bad people out there......but for the rest .....knowlegde and safety are EVERYTHING!!!!

Oops, I must have misread that post. I thought Specialist meant he was a Mass State Cop... I got it now.

I would make a joke about myself having Attention Deficit Disorder, but I wouldn't want to offend anyone with AD and get in trouble.

If I may weigh in on the Patrick situation here... my grandmother passed away 2 years ago from cancer. It was not breast cancer... but I watched a one of the greatest ladies in the world waste away to nothing in just a few short months. Just when I was really appreciating her experiences and just when she was getting to know her great granddaughter. It sucked and it will always upset me.

Patrick shows no class and says and does some idiotic things, but let's not overreact and get too dramatic. Make it clear that is not acceptable behavior here or anywhere, but we shouldn't get too crazy.

Now, I didn't see the picture and I have no idea why he would post it here... but I think everyone should loosen up a bit.

And Mindi, try to understand that its true, Patrick has less rope than most of us. That's because he has a history of putting his foot in his craw and offending people at bad times (i.e. during the terrorist attacks on 9/11). He has earned his short leader and has to live with it.

Chris L, let's get back to being serious for a second, you may not be a criminal, but you certainly are a social deviant! Of course, that helps you fit in with the rest of us.

Specialist, I would also like to get some permit info for MA. I am originally from PA and would like to maybe buy a rifle down there, because I go there to hunt Deer every year. Have been doing it since I was a kid. But if I buy a gun down there what do I have to do to bring it into this state. Don't want to break any laws. May want to get a pistol permit up here as for all that is going on right now. Took a hunter safety course back in I think it was 1979?

Any info would be great, just drop me an email fi you would. Thanks

I would write the letter BUT also be concerned FOR HIM!! After being attacked you wanna make sure you won't pull a gun in just any circumstance. I am PRO GUN!! I believe in our right "to keep and bear arms" but it does come with alot of responsibility.

If I were being mugged and was being ASKED to hand over my wallet, while I was armed....

I would hand over my wallet...

ONLY if my life amd limb were being threatened would I use my weapon.

NEVER , EVER pull a gun unless your intent is to KILL!!!!

I also am NOT anti-police
but I am anti police-state
