swimming plugs that cast

I like to throw swimming plugs like Bombers, Rebels, etc.. These plugs consistently catch fish, but they do not cast very well. I tried the Yo-Zuri mag-minnow, which casts noticably farther and has a nice action. If there is a downside, it's the price tag ($13). Are there any other plugs out there that I can cast with ligh spinning gear?

Thanks.

Light spinning gear should handle the 6 inch bomber long A really well. There are a couple of options. You can load your plastic swimmers such as bombers and mambo minnows with water or oil by drilling a small hole and then sealing it off with 5 minute epoxy. You can try smaller wood plugs such as a 1 oz Gibbs Casting Swimmer or small Gibbs darter. With an 8 ft rod I can cast a bomber long A just about as far as a yo-zuri. The jointed long A weighs a little more than the straight back. In my opinion, the bomber is the best plastic swimmer made. You can also try the Gibbs Stubby needlefish. While its not a swimming plug, it catches fish.

Gibbs stubby does catch fish and casts like a missle!

Hi JamieM, I don't know if you ar into throwing any popping plugs, but one that is inexpensive is the Chrome Creek chub, 3/4 oz, casts great, one of the most productive plugs I throw. The Gibbs pencil popper is an excellent choice, 1 oz cast fantastic and catches alot of fish, day or night. It comes in alot of different colors, I prefer, red and white for daytime, and dark pogy color for night time, it just snakes across the water and drives the fish crazy. The new Mr. Bunker rattle trap from Gags is also another productive lure, night or day that also cast well. At night I like to throw the Black Mambo, 1 1/2 oz on my 9' rod with a black teaser rig. Hope this helps!!!!!
