they did come from the same source, but the shop is very reputable. don't want to give any negative publicity to the shop. i advised on the building of all the rods. not that i am a pro in any form of the word, but i know the "right" way to build a rod and none of the other rods these guys have built have suffered the same fate. i am really baffled by this. the 1088's broke between the collector and next guide, all on casts. the 1089's broke within the top 1/3 of the blank on casts and then on the fish this weekend. i am afraid of what might happen when i start really using my 1089 i built for jigging.
