the instrument shot with the other crew's hand on it is pushing hard upwind...

she goes like a rocket when you go bow down on the wind though... we were clocking true windspeed upwind at times

with a #4 jib and full main

She's an Andrews 70, ex Titan XI
Was one of the west coast transpac sleds, also did newport-bermuda in 58 hours 2 years ago (faster than the old record... 5 hours behind Roy Disney's last Pyewacket)

I bounce between foredeck/bow man and runner duty on that boat when I'm on it.

Also that spinnaker pole isn't even the BIG one for the full masthead kites.

That one is about 35-40 feet long.

Zacs, biggest boat in Padanaram.

Amusing thing, we brought the boat down from RI a week ago, and did an NBYC persuit race to Menemsha (where the pics are from).

We started 45min after the first boat (obviously we were the last boat off the line).

And beat the 2nd place boat by over 15 minutes.
We were already on a mooring and kicking em back when the 2nd boat had finally crossed.
