I will be clamming Sunday
stomp stomp squirt squirt dig dig dig pick pick pick
repeat

generally you get the permit from the town in which you will dig. They control the shellfishery. For whatever reason.

They also pass the limits and when you can go.
Scituate regs are here:: clamming regs

For me that means:
Only get to dig 1/4 bu. in a week. (Mon -> Sun.)
only go on Thu or Sun
min size 2inch

So I go Sunday and limit. Keep them fresh in the fridge (eat some that night) If I get a chance I go the next Thursday and Limit again, put em all together and have a feast for FridayNight!!

(usually I end up only goin on Sunday.)

Gear
onion sack
clam digger
BARE HANDS!!!
cheap sneakers
blue jeans (gravel trashes the knees)

This time I am bringin a pole and will do some fishin in between. Not sure If I can cook em while I am out there.
maybe bring a propane backpacker stove and do a shore lunch

There is a fine line that seperates a fisherman from a fool standing in water swinging a stick.

will cook for food
...and plugs
