I am surprised you lost eels at the dock, it must have gotten really hot. Last season I had them on a morring in the back of a salt pond maybe 6-7' deep. Water temp got to 78 deg no real flow either....I think a couple died but it was nothing serious. I put about 3-4 doz in a 5 gal bucket.

This year I have them at a dock maybe 4' deep but there is moving water...so far temp is up to about 65 or so I have about 50 in their and I think one died last week...probably from old age.

If you keep them at home in a closed tank like the shops (they change the water on a reg basis) but you can add a chemical that makes them quite happy and chills them out. You may want to look into this. It keeps them alive much longer. I can find out what the name is if you like.
