Specialist, there are some fine details that would be hard to do with paint and a brush. Markers are OK to use as long as you clear over them. One thing I failed to mention was after I put clear over the graphics on the plug I let it dry good and scuff the plug down with a scuff pad. I use 3M gray scuff pads and I don't go crazy but just take the shine off the plug. I feel it gives the envirotex something to bite into. I have a bunch of plugs that were done without scuffing and they holdup fine. It's just something I started doing while trying to refine my system for best possible results.
