Sandman -

Pulled an old email from my obrother. This is what it was like fishing during/after a Hurricane. This was during the time of hurricane "Felix." I was not there as I was too busy in high ya know drinkin' and chasing the women -I should of been chasing the fish...

"Biggest blitz I ever saw ,witnessed by Ronnie, Wally, Mark and myself , blitz lasted 3 full days and nights with fish all the way from Coast Guard beach to Marconi, the hurricane brought millions of baby blueback herring into the surf line , bass and blues were 5 feet from shore. First night of the blitz I landed a half dozen 30-35lb stripers with a number of breakoffs , maybe 50 lb stripers or gator blues chopping through my line , was in a pod of big bass ,similar to the pod we found with Chevy that night at Chatham ,except about 10lbs bigger. 4 of these fish were feeding so veraciously , they inhaled my atom plugs so deep down in their gullets , I had to cut my line. We each caught about 300-400 stripers and gator blues a day. To draw a comparison , imagine the blitz that you, me , and Ronnie experienced our last morning at Weepawaug breachway , extending all the way to Watch hill , and lasting 3 days. That about sums up the experience. Dad was so tired he took a rest on the beach as he was sick of cathing fish. The blitz got so crazy when it extended to Race point a few days later after we had to leave , a pod of Pilot whales were crashing into the surf on the beach almost stranding themselves feeding on the massive schools of herring. You measure a good blitz when after a full day you have no tackle left in your bag and your arms literally ache in pain and you snap a rod or 2 in the process ask Ronnie.

I think I'll be on the water this weekend just in case.....
