Fish Scale

What's a good choice for a scale? Don't want to blow the money on a boga..already waterlogged the rapala digital ones. How accurate are the sping ones. Have seen the $30 brass ones/shimano's. Mustad has one for $15?
What do you guys use?

IMHO you would be better off saving for the Boga as it should last you a lifetime,and meantime your gonna spend the same amount on a bunch of cheaper ones in a few years.

weigh yourself on your bathroom scale then grab the fish and do it again. you'll figure it out.

just don't drip fish smeg on the scale. your old lady will kill you....

I have a chatillion (sp) 50# spring scale and it is very accurate.

I like bogo's have 2 one for the boat and one for the beach... One of them is at least 7 years old and has been used heavy on the beach and boat and it works like new. This is an excellent mechanism that is easy to clean.

I think the 60# model is over priced, so I have two 30# models. I also recently purchased a cheap mustad 50# spring scale (15 bucks at west marine). It is not as accurate as the bogo (which is surpirsingly accurate to as close as you can read the scale) but if I peg the mustad scale, I know I have a big one.

save for a bogo...it lasts a lifetime and is a handy thing to have.

Manley spring scales are very accurate for at least a couple of seasons.

The gradations are just too small for me to read without glasses.

The reason i'm looking for an accurate scale is because i've been wanting to tag some fish. That rules out the bathroom method (besides the old lady won't have one in the house - her way of dealing with weight gain )

I've got something similar to a boga, it's basicly a plastic vise grip $5 from cabelas. the problem i have with it is both bass and blues get lockjaw when they see this day-glo orange thing comming at them. Do you boga guys have the same problem?

You guys wash off the boga with the rest of the gear....right?

my biggest concern with the boga grip is that i'll find a way to lose it

worst of all would be that catch a cow, grab him with the boga, then loose fish with boga still attached.
