Problem with my Internet Explorer?

OK Techies!!!

I am having a problem with my IE and whenever I click a link that opens a new window it loads about 90% and then crashes.
I get the internet explorer window asking me if I want to send the error report or not. No matter if I send it or cancel it once that is done my IE shuts down and I have to reboot my IE.
So basically any page that opens in a new window I cant read or look at as the IE crashes over and over?

Whats up with that?
I ran a Norton Check and fixed any issues it found but still the same deal!

I installed Netscape Navigator yesterday in case I really need to view new pages but would rather fix the problem than by pass it!

Running a Norton Scan right now to see if something funky like a virus might be going on but I really doubt it.

Help!!

Download Adaware from Lavasoft.de, install it, get the updates and run it. Reboot and run it again. Need to do that before any further diagnosis

Question

Already have adaware and run it 3-4 times a week!
Should I do what I always do and delete all found items?

Couple of tools you can try..

Can you get into safe mode/networking? If so, does it work there?

Also, try going to
http://housecall.trendmicro.com (if you can make it to the site)
run the free scan. Finds alot of trojans which typically arent picked up by antivirus scans

Opera is the shizzle! It's better than Navigator or Explorer!

But yeah, see if there are any windows updates available to patch your explorer. If there is none, try ad-aware and spyblaster and also go into safe-mode and run your NAV(make sure virus def are updated before doing so)...

Sounds like you may have some corrupted system files maybe? Have you run scandisk and checkdisk?

That sucks. If all else fails, you can try removing IE through add/remove programs. Go to Add/Remove windows components and reinstall. Worked for once You may or may not loose your bookmarks Try at your own risk and good luck. Another spyware removal program you may consider first, spybot, http://beam.to/spybotsd It's free and works well.

Yep, as outfished says, that proggie is good. I like to use several kinds of spyware removal proggies cuz what one may miss, another may catch... different methodologies used by each proggie to catch the culprits.

Typically to totally clean spyware from a machine I will use

Ad Aware
Spybot
CWS Shredder
Hijack This
LSP Fix
and either TDS3 or Housecall - sometimes both.

Then you need to check the small things like startup and msconfig and clear temp internet files etc..

Spyware is a nasty thing... But it does have its purposes.. I had a customer a few months ago that couldnt install "The Sims" it ended up he was so clogged with spyware it wouldnt allow it till it was clean.. He was almost saved.

Thumbs up

Well I didnt fix my IE problem so decided rather than throw the PC out the window I would download another browser/

Went with Firefox and so far it seems much more stable than IE has ever been!!!!

Only time will tell!!

Next step willl be a MB and Chipset upgrade? Maybe?
