Is there a Packrats anonomous?
Man, if there is, I need ta join, and sign my missus up as well.
Cleaning and moving stuff around in the basement, trying to get ready for the "project playroom" I've been assigned, lived in this house since 83', and the chit I've saved.... what the hell was I thinking, her too! Several dump runs been made, several more needed, plus the big pile of crapola for the "yard sale", and I laid the law down on that, whatever left, in the truck, and off to the "free shop", 'cause, my area ain't gonna inherit that schtuff......
Cautionary tale, if your done with something, get rid of it.I think I did it 'cause I was raised by 2 depression era parents, they were the same way... "We will have a use for this someday".... shoulda remembered cleaning out there house..... I shoulda got the lesson then. But, I think I had at least half of there crap in my cellar!!!!!
How toxic is cellar dust? I've been hacking and coughing up a storm!
Found a nice old style chicken scratch bomber behind a set of shelves, the old kind that were molded different than these new ones, so, that's ONE good thing, so far...

I moved 7 weeks ago and removed FIVE 8 yard dumpsters full and 3 2 yard dumpsters full from my old house.
If it didn't move in 6 months or a year it was tossed
STILL had 2 entire truckloads of stuff to move on top of the entire truck of woodworking tools last april

I believe in continuous inventory adjustments.
I'm donating or giving away or selling stuff regularly to prevent chit from piling up.

Gonna show this thread to my wife. When we clean-out she has two small piles and I look like "Harry the Junk Man".
Maybe the Ten Step Program will work for me.

Must be a man cave thing!
I'm a packrat as well ......... basement & garage prove it. :P
Hey, that reminds me some one was suppose to pick something up back in like June and its still hogging up my garage. Guess its gotta go to the dump.
Fishing tackle - ummmmm - no comment. I could almost open a shop ...... lol. Not thanks to YOU guys.... LOL.
I periodically spend a half a day throwing things out. Reason I don't do it more often is I can't carry it to the transfer station any more because i haven't had a PU in 2.75 yrs. Whaaaaaaaa - I need a truck. Subcompacts stink.

Basement dust isn't "toxic" - could be mold or mildew that is bothering you. I have a gazillion spiders in mine.
I have allergies and the basement is my haven when its really hot or in the winter when I need to get away from my family.
Internet access is down there in the basement as well now - need to add some phone jacks real soon.....LOL. Yeah, dial up no cable.
