generally, in my opinion, a proper parachute head should have the hook eye forward balanced and not center balanced as is sometimes the case.

center balanced will make yoru jig dig deeper and you wont get that beautiful parachuting motion you get with a forward looped jig... no?

Pretty much. If given a choice I always favor jigs with the hook eye forward not in the center. For surf casting, bottom humping, the forward balanced jigs are the way to go, less hanging up and a better "rise and fall"
For straight crank deadsticking then the smiling bills are good heads.

..............................................I've been reading way too much about what bassdozer has to say. We surf guys can learn something from the freshwater guys, and, if nothing else, it gets the old bean ticking.

its going to be a loooooooong winter. Best to study up for new techniques and prepare for the next season. Then when the next season rolls around, spend half of the time on new tricks and the rest of the time on old ones....

one mississippi, two mississippi.... three missssiii..........

your going to need a bigger plugbag after I'm done in the garage this spring
