Flap hit it on the head IMO. Have all the FD's books...they are OK, good info but most of it is re-cycled IMO. And the my-life thing I really didn't care for at all. My fav FD book is...100 hot spots. While I disagree with his choice and he didn't even include CH (how is this possible?) It was fun to check them off my list of places I have fished.

reading the water is good but it if you have no connection with these guys I can see it boring.

Quest is almost poetic. I like the "why" we fish books.

Cronicles was good. Funny I never saw this guy while I was there all those years but it was fun to read.

I like reading the old woolner and lyman books...yeah most are dated but it brings back a lot of memories and the info is still solid today..hell you guys are re-building the classic plugs they used and hailing them as timeless.


Right now on my bedstand are three books:
the shining tides..a classic but I fall asleep when I read this
the surfcaster guide to baits, rigs and lure (rosko) I really like reading about gear.
and Striped bass fishing (karas)..70's vintage but enjoyable.
