Snowy Day Idea........
While down in the plug lab messing around with some mis-drills people have sent me I found this blank in the pile. I am not sure but think it may be a Back Beach Jake blank. Since I am old school oriented I thought this would really look old school if I made the swimming plate (lip) attach to the front etc and make it jointed. I think the blank was supposed to be a Pencil Popper. Anyway, I need to figure out the weighting still. It needs some more drilling for eyes and sealing plus a little glue on a slight crack on the tail end and then screw the plate in place.

That looks pretty sleek and if weighted right I don't see why it would not swim! Very original Flap!

I have a guzz plug that he did similar to this one. Not jointed, but has the plate on the front like that. Good plug in current.

Jigs could you post a pic? I remember Guzz's plug, I asked him how it swam when he posted it. Was about a year ago right? Steve, is that one of your collection? Nice plug! How long is that? Is it all screw eyes or wire through?

See what I mean about there just ain't much that is really "new" in plug design. I knew it had to have been done before by somone. I still think it has potential.

I was thinking that too Christian. Great minds think alike you know. I was also planning on not having a tail hook of anykind just a bucktail in a short piece of stainless. The bitchiest part was after cuttin the lip from a piece of stainless plate and shaping it was bending it into shape to fit the cut (rasped) at the face. I had to use a bit of Famowood filler and sand and shape to get it where I wanted it.

I don't remember if guzz posted a photo of the plug or not. Would have been around a year ago, or at least that is when I got one from him. I'll let guzz supply the photo if he wants it up here. The lip was not curved on his. Plug was heavy for its size. Something to be used in current. Does look good in current

Here is the plug painted. I went with Christian's suggestion of not weighting it and letting it wiggle on top. He was right ( wise beyond his years) The pattern is kinds of a cross between a Blowfish and the old Coach Dog so I call it "Blowdog"!
