Angry traveling for fish

between the erosion and gas prices I don't think I'll be making enough trips down cape to warrent buying a sticker for the seashore . I guess Cotuit will be my east and Newport my west this year and a lot more canal fishing

I forsee a busy summer driving back and forth to Lake Wallenpaupack. If I spring for an out of state license might be worth taking some eels. Just like here shore access is an issue.....

Do the math. In my Accord we're talking $0.0011 per mile difference between $1.89 and $2.50..........

I'll be limiting my fishing to the island.

Many friends of mine are shellfisherman. If this continues many of these guys won't be able to AFFORD to work.

So lets see, if I take the rod racks off the jeep and put them on the civic, I get 3 times the mileage. So if I follow thru on the math, I think that must mean I get to fish twice as often

Cool

Looking up interesting stuff on alternative energy for home and auto.

Wonder if anyone here has experience with LNG/CNG/ethanol cars. Most of what I see out there is for commercial customers (and not average folks).

Here's a cool home solar power link:

Yep it is gonna suck. 135 gal in the boat gets me about 2-3 weeks of fishing if I don't go crazy. But to me it is worth it.

Gas on MV now is 2.63/gal for reg. I just put $65 in my Yukon XL. Some are thinking...THAT'S INSANE but considering there is no place to go and I really don't drive that far and the last time I bought gas on island was October 04. (I went off in Dec and Jan to go skiiing and tanked up prior to my return) This tank full will last me 6-8 weeks easy. During high fishing season I will tank up every two weeks and every week during the derby and I feel some pain, but again it is worth it.

For the boat my fuel is cheaper at the dock then at the street pump. I get a sizeable discount because I hold a comm fishing lic....but I haven't sold a fish since 1982. Thats right....the reason I buy the stupid comm fishing lic to get my fuel cheaper . In one fill up I more then pay for my lic.

IMO We need to drill off Alaska and just the threat of us doing that will collapse the price. We don't have to pump much but just enough to control the Arabs.
BTW we have reserves in Alaska to completely sustain our own needs for over 200 years at over 100% ov todays capacity (and that is just what we know about). Imagine what would happen to the Arab price of oil if we said, ...."I don't think we will need any this year, maybe next year....thanks". IMO we could hold the price at $1.00/gal for then next 500 years if we wanted to. Its time to play hardball with these guys.
