TOO MUCH ROLL!!!!!
I made a few Danny swimmers as per the Fisherman mag. article. They swim good at a very slow speed but they roll from about 10to 2. I tried a heavier belly weight 8 gram from 4 grams. Same roll but it struggled to get into a wiggle at the start up. It stays on top fine either weight. I'm using 3--2/0 trebles also. They are not painted yet, just sealed and primed. I did consider plugging the eye sockets and painting them solid. I rather not if I can lessin the roll. What do you plug builders consider too much roll?

Re-wire it in the top hole and try that.
Then if you want, try with 6 grams of weight., be sure it is in the pivot point of the belly

Bending the eye loop down helps also. You will have to play with it to get it right. Danny plugs are supposed to be fished S-L-O-W-LY.

SLOW!!!
You should fish Dannys SLOWLY, like Flap said. My Dannys don't roll except in really rough water but I usually fish them in calmer water.
Last Fall I was using them in the back of one of the SO breachways in the middle of the night on an incoming, fairly flat water. I hammered Bass between 21 and 27 pounds for 3 weeks in Late Oct and early Nov. I would fish them like I would an eel....real slow turn so they just wiggled and swayed a bit.
The Bass would come up on top and slam the plug. Dead quiet and then an explosion. When a 27# Bass takes a Danny on top in calm water it sounds like somebody threw a boulder in the water.

Thanks everyone on the response. I will try the top hole and then the weight. On the retrieve speed ,I do admit it's a much better looking plug with less roll at a painstakiingly speed.

screw that, You want a plug to work in faster water, this is what plug building is about. not looking at another and clone it.
You want a plug to stay on top...
You want aplug with no roll.......
tell you as I fish my balls off and test my work over time on the sand and fish.
make the body fatter and try red cedar and maybe make 5 the same size. and put the small nj pike lip on it,
make 2 with out any weight. i have a few in my bag that are for me only that crank on bass. (a few have seen yellow and silver )
get out there and test them.
on fish that is.
this is what its about making them for Your needs.
dont for get You can swap out hook sizes up or down. to tune them.
nice replys here is the answer To You post

I am pleased to here that. It seems the prognosis on your recovery is very, very good. 30 more days and I think you can drop the program and you will be cured.
