Gil Gliottone
For anyone who knows Gil, one of the old guard in the RI surf, he was seriously injured in a car accident yesterday after apparently suffering a heart attack.
I am not a deeply religious guy but any prayers you can offer would be appreciated.
Gil and I have fished together for better than 20 years and he is a great guy, a great surf fisherman with numerous 50's to his credit and a good friend.

I really hope he pulls though
A friend of mine was fishing with Gill one really cold fall day and gill landed a beauty of a bass.. over 40 pounds if I remember the story right. Gill stashed the bass in the dunes and they fished for another hour or 2. When it was time to leave, Gill proudly took his bass down to the wash to get the sand off and as soon as the bass hit the water ZING!!!!...... it came back to life and swam off leaving Gill fishless
I love that story

Eben, that is a true story. Happened about 5 years ago at Deep Hole. I had just left Gil. He had a 40 and a 35. When he was washing off the 40 it woke up and swam away.
He is still alive, as of last night. he did suffer a cerebral hemmorage. They were doing brain scans last night but I don't know anything further. I'll post as soon as I have news. Thanks to everyone for their prayers. That's what makes this site the best. One big family.

I've spoken with him on the beach a bunch of times over the years - there's an old-guard Naragansett fisherman who really knows his stuff. Best wishes...
