Noodle/salmon rod will do it no problem. They're made for salmon.... Fights aren't that long....

I second the noodle rod. I've taken Salmon to 33 lbs on mine in running water-schoolies are no prob. Let the rod do all the work and you'll be able to get the fish in in no time. Have even gotten Bonito on the noodle-took a little longer though.

i spend more time chasing schoolies on lite tackle then i do the big girls , love the top water action
