Need a little advice

A good friend of mine is retiring in June....Planning on ( with 1 or 2 others)getting him a nice surf set up....he mostly chunks the lower cape....

Just want to verify if a Van Stall worth the cash?

Personally, I would not spend that kind of dough on a VS reel to use for dunking chunks. My .02 cents.

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

if he mostly chunks, how about a reel with a baitrunner feature? shimano and others make nice ones, and they're very reasonable.

I will have to check out the baitrunners......I still have time...I know I need to find out the specs on the rod to size up the reel....

I thank you for the advice....

VS nah

I'm with BIGFISH here. VS is way over the top for chunking.

I agree with Larry--I would not lay out 700 clams for a reel to fish chunks--VS, Saltiga or Stella.

On the lower Cape, he won't need to cast far, and probably won't need a ton of weight to hold bottom most of the time. The best rod he could get is a fiberglass Lamiglas SB 121 3M. 10 foot rod that can be cut from the butt to 9 or 9-1/2 feet. Matched up with a Shimano BTR Baitrunner 4500.

And the best place to purchase the outfit is from mike cc at M&D's Tackle in Wareham.
