4 maybe 5 years ago a guy was busted with short fish in Eastham.. the Enviro Cop was sharp, he waited till the guy put the cooler with the fish In the car... that way he could seize the car too
FWW, I was wondering the same thing, and I bet the cops even have a pretty good clue where those fish were going, to boot... a lot of, uh, "local" restaurants up there would have them fish, I bet.

Allright!
The epo's deserve praise and the state and local for assisting. Once the complanits are filed in court it becomes public knowledge. Someone should follow this up and see what the judge actually does to them. Or turn the local rag onto the bust so it ends up being publicized. Either way I hope the judge backs up the EPO's difficult and dangerous work.

Swimmer? if the Judge was found to give them to lite a fine....is that the end of it? or can the public petition that Judge to impose the harshest penalties possible....in the future? i think also that since the cars are being used just as much to get to the fish as are the fishing gear that they should loose them as well.
but that shouldn't be the case of a innocent one fish (27") offense .....but "should be" with this blatant display of 12" fish...
trashing the enviroment with fish every where and trash thrown every where giving all fisherman -> a bad name "type" of group.

Hey Karl,
Maybe I was told the same story, a few years back some guys were at the sports pub in Eastham and had been telling a few people of all da bass they had in the truck out side. Well to make a long story short, they hooked the truck, and all away. They did not live local and had to call the wifey up to come pick them up.

Not that one VB, (I rember that one too).. this was a local scumbag, guys always been a scumbag, theiving, conniving, druggie since the sixties. Supposedly clean and sober, all of a sudden he's a comm fisherman for stripers, but, can't catch large, so, as scumbums will do, he finds the market that will buy shorts.. off the books. He tried clamming for a while, but for some reason, he had a LOT of gear trouble
He was told by several locals if he was ever seen near the shore again, well, lets just say it wouldn't be pretty... he's a 53 year old paper boy now. Never did get the car back, or his cooler and fishing gear, fined the max per fish, and was on probation, might still be.

I heard similar stories about poaching stripers out of the New York area. They say they are really organized.
