thought so.... I briefly heard people had been having some luck with live herring. but i thought i woulds ask.

If they are not fresh - fohgetaboutit..............frozen will melt in your hand when defrosted.
Out in the NW we use them EXCLUSIVELY for salmon fishing. We use them no less then 1 day old, and we stored them in a near frozen slurry of saltwater, but not frozen. Seems to keep them crisp.
