i've found out first hand if you call the state police, they will act faster . they will hold them untill the authorities arrive.

Thats horrible. Those are the actions that get places shut down. Who knows who owns that skiff, but imagine of they were on the town council. Soon you would see no-parking signs go up and you will be forced to fish elsewhere because of the actions of a few bad folks. F-ers

how far away was their vehicle from where they were fishing?.....was what i was wondering... then with their license plate written down it will be easier to identify(spot) the POACHERS and VANDALS easier the next time for authorities and /or yourself, or anyone on the board.
Then if you had that info you could've writen a short note to the property owner
and lettem know you were there trying to protect his pride and joy property and perhaps earned permanent permission to fish those two jetties.
Also i would have taken their picture. BUT thats just me.... the property owner might have wished to press charges for the vandalism but with no info provided he might think your the person who was cutting squid on his boat....seeing you walk down that beach months later..or some other person....who wouldnt do such a thing.

I would have been wondering that too, but for a different reason.
By that time, I probably wouldn't have even left the valve stems in an envelope under their wiper blade

I now just bring a plastic shopping bag with me when I fish a particular area near my house and stuff the bag with as much as will fit in it.Most of what I pick up is bait boxes, hook packages, line and of course food/drink related garbage.
No point in calling RIDEM.When or if an officer gets the complaint he has to come from Ft.Adams in Newport. On top of that these guys are driving Dodge Neons and Ford Focuses.I've called the local police and given them the plate #s of the offenders' vehicles.I wait till the offending idiots are leaving as its much safer(for me)that way.I've encountered the same people the following day after I've dimed them out and find more garbage.
What really kills me is the place I'm referring to has a 1/2 dozen garbage cans. You HAVE to walk by them to get to your vehicle and yet I still find garbage on the beach. You don't even have to know how to read to know that those big blue barrels with round tops are garbage cans. There is no excuse not use them other than complete laziness.

One of the problems was there were a few cars parked in the area and there was no way of knowing which one was theirs. Believe me, many evil thoughts crossed my mind about their car. But what would that prove? Would it keep them from doing it again? Maybe in that place, but certainly not in others. Sorry to be cynical, but seeing the response from the police around here on much more serious issues, I kind of doubt they would have done anything. In their defense I'm sure it is a pretty hard job to be a cop on the Cape in the summer. I do wish I had a camera with me though. I wonder what they would have done if I had stood there and started taking lots of pictures? And I'm not trying to sound like a bigot, but the fact is, I don't care what their cuture and tradition is related to the keeping of EVERY fish that's caught, the law is the law, and a freakin slob is a freakin slob. If I am bigoted against anything, its piggish behavior.

high lift-em :o)
i have a high lift jack.....that can easily tip over a car onto its side in minutes.
maybe we should hand these bozo's a picture of that and then they'll get the idea.
of course that would be very illegal to do, but something has to be done to cross the language barrier......as you can see just reading about this has lit my short fuse.
