How come when the Sox lose (i.e. Grady Little) its the Managers Fault but when they win its in "Spite" of the manager. Give the guy some credit, he took them where no one else has in the past 86 years.
When the dust settles at the end of the season, if the sox don't make the play-offs, then rip away. I just don't see how you can rip a guy apart for having his team in 1st place at the all-star break.
Don't forget too that he did this while playing the most games on the road of any MLB team in the 1st half.

There is no one else toplay second base if you pinch hit for Cora. That was what I heard Francona say afterwards.
Here's my take on the Red Sox.....the real problem lies in their ego-ccentric GM.....he got all the praise last year for geting lucky IMO.....I have never thought that highly of Epstein.....but it is really just a gut reaction for me.....

I don't think he coaches scared as much as he cares way too much about his player's feelings.......he coaches in a way that makes sure his players aren't pissed at him.
However, all that does is make the players even more head strong, and we are starting to see the ramifications of that right now.....Meuller says he will not play second, Millar was pissed off when Olerud came to town, Payton said play me or trade me, etc. etc. etc.
Inmates are running the asylum at Fenway.
