Welcome Glen, I am also a furniture maker. The supplies can be quite a hunt to find sometimes but that is just part of the fun I guess.
I use stainless wire 313L welding wire also, it comes in 3' lengths also and you can buy it by the pound. Also you can use screw eyes. There are some eyes at sites like Stamina, Jannscraft or try Mooreslures.
Swivels you can get at tackle shops along with hooks ofcourse.
