You know what is funny, all the problems PC people have, like the stuff you guys just wrote about I have never had. I have owned my MAC G4 for four years and (knock on wood) have never once had a problem. Once you go Mac you dont go back. Granted my profession is in the design field, so I'm in a way required to use a Mac. However I had a PC and had to deal with the problems and the thing can't hold a candle to my computer now.

Alas this is one mans opinion and I dont want to start a nerd battle

freak download tweak ui from micro$oft. check the paranoia settings and that should help you out with removing those unsightly sights...

Between my two jobs, I prolly clean 2 dozen machines a week. Those programs alone still arent enough

I got 5 programs I use religiously to clean out a machine. None of which are Ad Aware/Spybot/Spysweeper. Microsoft Antispyware is the main one. Even in its Beta format, its the best out there.

Then if there is still a problem its time to breakout the spybot or ad aware.. but generally, if there is still a problem at that point, I need to break out the even bigger guns... Couple nasty programs out there that really dig in and strip stuff out but they are not for regular home use.

Gotta agree with JohnR on this one - no one program seems to clean all the spyware/malware off a machine - frequently I run 3 programs on a machine to clean all of the stuff. Spyware can bring a machine to its knees. Ad-Aware SE, SpyBot Search & Destroy, Pest Patrol (older version better IMO), & Web Root Spy Sweeper has a fully functional trial download. Microsoft has a Beta version of their spyware detection and removal program that is free. I probably clean 5 to 7 machines a week of this stuff and it is a PITA.
