"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.

According to the story in the paper, Mike said it took an eel at slack at 10 am and felt like a 30 coming in. He didn't have to chase the fish, assuming they boated it easily. There was also a 57 lber caught by a spear fisher holding his breath off the Block last week also.

Would you keep it or release it? My biggest was a 44 and it really didn't fight.....just pulled and came in with pressure.
