I use the #^^^^^^& (patent pending) method of hooking down mouth and out the bottom. I keep them on ice to calm them but I DO NOT WHACK MY EEL. They seem to settle down after a while and perk right up right before a ($%(%& bluefish bites them in half....

I hook 'em under the jaw and out either left or right eye socket depending on where Im located in relation to any current in the area. Hope this helps, also take a look in the how to section for the keep cool bucket that should help you out, best to handle the eels with either a dry rag, or a green scrubbing pad.

I'm curious as to the difference on the Eye Socket. Why does the current matter on this?

It lets the eel swim or drift in a more natural way.

So which eye for which type of current. would it be if the current is flowing left to right you would put it in the right eye (as you're looking at it) and visa versa

yeah, i tried whacking my eel last night and it was hemeroraging. It spitted out its own blood or excrete blood. I have no ideas. Water and ice dont mix in the bucket. Just ice them down and sling when u get to your spot.
Use sands to wipe the slime off and handle it with a scrubbing scuzz pad (help me out on this) to hold ur eel.
hey, dont get the wrong idea. i was fishing last night and it was bleeding when i was hodling the eel after stunning it hard. can it spit our or bleed like that?
