Aqua Stealth? anyone use these? - Striper Talk Striped Bass Fishing, Surfcasting, Boating

Anyone here use the wading shoes with the aqua stealth bottom? If so how are they? and do you think its better than felt? Mainly I want to know how it is on rocks, my felt sole shoes are great however with all the walking I do I have worn them down to nothing in just two months.......

get them! make sure you get the studded ones though- I have the ultra light wading shoes from bean with the studs/aquastealth soles and cant say enough good things about them. I havent worn korkers once this year. I would be lost without those boots... bubbleweed can be a pain, as the spikes are small, but for bald slimey rocks, they cant be beat.

they do wear out fast though. i've had this pair since april. lifetiem warranty so in the fall i will send them back

What Eben said. They don't cut through the thick weed as good as types that have longer studs but they are excellent on rocks that are covered with the dreaded black teflon-like slime. Hey Eben: Did you use to have the older model Bean lightweight boot that was sorta like the Orvis Henry's Fork boot? I wish they still made it. It was a slight bit heavier then the newer ultralight model but had more support plus took a better beating. I'd give the Henry's Fork a serious look if they came with the Aqua Stealth Studded sole.

I still wear korkers when there's weed, but on bare rock or rock with black slime the studded felts are much more comfortable...

So I guess the aqua stealth alone without the studs is not as good as felt on the rocks. I have a brand new pair of korkers and have yet to wear them! I am just to comfortable in the felt shoes, ok I guess its the studded aqua steath, thanks guys!

I am going to get the simms L2 With the aqua stealth studded sole, wearing this combo I have never been so comfortable in the surf. I used to love to put my korkes on now, I hate the things! On Block I would still use the korkers.

I have the Korkers "Outfitter Konvertible" wading boots with the interchangeable soles and they are great. I use the regular studded soles most of the time and they hold up well as long as I tighten the studs every time I'm out. I use the lug soles on sand. They also sell Aquastealth and studded Aquastealth soles. The boots are very strong & durable. So far so good.

I've heard very good things about those Korker boots, too. There are two different styles, and the more expensive ones seem to get the better ink.

When my Orvis ProGuide bootfoots finally crap out, I'm going the stocking foot with studded boots route too. Probably bite the bullet and get the Simms

I forgot to mention -- the Korker boots are very comfortable, even more comfortable than the Simms Guide boots I used to have. The Korker boots seem to have more "give" and stretch.

Mike you will love the simms, 3 months and there as good as the day I bought them! I have finally got steve to get a pair he has been thru two pairs of orvis this year already.......

I think the plain version is easily just as good as felt, but its a bit different. With the AS you get good holding power when you put weight on it - better than felt I think.
With felt you start to get a grip as soon as you slide your foot onto the rock, wheras AS still feels slippery at that point.

Of course, the studded version holds better on weedy rocks than the plain version.

The only reason I am worried about the studs is the amount of walking I do to get to spots, I mean they will wear out fast walking on roads

Keep an eye on those Korker convertibles, unless they've updated them they'll start falling apart a bit sooner or later.

I looked at those in the store and did not like them, I will stay with the simms or the orvis lightweight. Those soles on the korkers look like they would come off to me....

The studs will wear out over time #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&- when i am walking long distances i walk on the grass as much as possible. They are loud on the pavement too so the grass thing is also a courtesy to the people who live where im walking by.

i have also had a couple studs simply pop right out of the soles. The downside to this system is that they do wearout and you cant replace the studs- I dont know much about simms or finn&feather's return policy but you might wnat to consider LLBEAN beacuse they will take it back no questions asked. I'm on my 3rd pair.
