I have a patrioit 1209 that paired with a 7000 is a nice meat stick soft enough for my tastes but with balls to spare... I'd stay off the premier line of St Croix had the 10'6" yuck; they are a HUGE step down from the Doerr series (which I have 2)

I use a St. Croix 10ft Premier 3/4 - 4oz with a 400TE. Up to 3.25oz it casts like a rifle, at the high end of it's range I find it a little soft for large wind resistant plugs. You can really drive it but it doesn't seem to make as much difference in distance as slightly liter lures. I'd stay away from the PP. If you get a backlash you'll say goodby to whatever you were throwing. $$$$ Perhaps because it's so much thinner the PP seems to knot up a lot more than say silver thread. I love the TE, it's much easier to tune for the conditions than my 400S, although I don't know that it casts any farther.

I have the All Star 1088, Batson 1088, and Lami 1205, all conventional. I love the Batson 1088 but its no AllStar 1088. With the AllStar I can throw 5 ounce zigs in the canal, big plugs, or good to big eels and jave plenty of muscle in the rod. The 1205 can do all of that but is heavier on an all-night castout than the All Star...

I didn't list the Allstar 1088 cause its 9 feet and the request is for 10. But I do have some Allstar 1088 blanks so if someone has an interest , let me know.

If you can handle just a little more weight, the Lamiglas glass 1213M will do all that and is a killer conventional stick. cut 6 inches off the butt and the weight problem goes away.
