50 lb Power Pro is thinner than 30lb Fireline and works well on 6500 Abus.I don't think you could get enough 65lb on a 6500 to land a large in current.

You won't break anything if you set your drag as if you were using 20# mono

Sorry about that. I meant was that if you were hung up the rod would break before the 65 would.....but the leader would break before the 65 would anyway.

i use 65 lb test braid and 50 lb leader material/ when i get hung up i thumb the spool and walk back keeping the rod straight. it breaks at the leader every time

cast fine for me- i dont use small bombers that much.. mostly dannies & darters. the larger the diameter the easier it is to cast IMO...

ihave been using 50 lb. on my calcutta 400 for 4yrs and i love it i have had no problemes at all . 30 is to light .i cast 3)8 to1 1)2 with no trouble i have caught bass from 12in. to 40lb.s on the same outfit .try the 50. best of luck to you the rest of the season. bill
