I'd vote for giving whatever we raise to the salvation army, much more of their donations winds up witht he needy than the red cross. Don't you guys remember that during the tsunami crisis, the red cross had to set up a special fund, because a lot of people wouldn't donate to their general fund because so much of that money is wasted.

I'll donate plugs or whatever is needed.... or we could have some kind of tournament perhaps, if everyone donated some things for prizes and we charged I dunno... 40$ per person to enter, opened it to the public, prizes for the winners and proceeds to the charities in need.
I have also thought a team tournament might be a fun idea 4 man teams 150$ per team. Or... we could have the 1st annual S-B Wiffle Ball Charity tournament .
Or.. jeeze I'm full of ideas today .... we could have a Tri-bass-alon, who can put waders and korkers on, change flashlight batteries in the dark and catch the biggest bass the fastest.

Donation
I'll donate a plug or two. I don't make plugs but I have some "backups to backups" of plugs that are pretty sought after that I could spare for a good cause.

In. It would be nice to help take care of our own S/B family ,as well as helping a charity thats on the ground with a low expense/ help ratio.

A plug raffle sounds like a good idea. I am not a builder but I would throw some cash in.

Things are so sad there, you can bet anything done to help the people affected by hurricane Kartina will be appreciated. And don't forget to ask or remind your company, like I just did, if they would support matching donations and make a corporate contribution (happily they just approved both).

Im In but just coming up with ideas is taking alot of time. Its a great Idea but if there are people that we can help now by sending them what we can its a start....We see the plight of those that stayed to ride the storm out on the TV every day, but there are juat as many if not more that left the coast and have no place to go back to. These people may be in areas that we may be able to get items to....
Bass Babe - Is there a way to send a care package to your Sister and the others. What can they use NOW... Food - Clothes - Shoes - Phone cards etc. Are there others in that area that are taking in people that were effected. If so what could they use and the best way to get items to them...
Not trying to Jack this thread but if we can do both lets do both...care packets fo those that we CAN get items to and a fund raiser for the Red Cross...

I think we work out the details this weekend, start the benefit and after 1 week, give what we have and say run a total of two weeks and give the rest at the end of two weeks. A split of some to a national org (RC or Salvation Army - I have heard that SA is more efficient than RC) and some to members of OUR S-B family - we have three families afffected that I am aware of, two found and one we are waiting to here from. A tourney would be nice but that would take too long and in a few weeks there will be a benefit tournament for a local soldier lost in Iraq - not a S-B tourney but a RI tourney that I want to assist on a bit.

Here are a few plugs to be donated for Katrina. Like the other fund raiser I decided to pull some from my stash in the living room. I figure these will do better than just putting up 5 plugs of mine. To builders whos' plugs I am donating please don't take this the wrong way. I am giving plugs that I would keep for myself but feel this is a better cause. There is a swimmer made by Tobias, a danny made by Capesams, a popper made by BigFish, a surfster made by me and a needle made by Bassmaster. Please bid these up as they didn't come easily.

Perhaps I'm a little scattered, but did this thing begin, and where do I send my money?

OK John; Camera is down right now;
I'm donating a black needle and a black stuby needle... I'll ship direct to whoever wins them. They arent the highest of quality looking, so you may want to combine them with other items (BUT, the do catch)

I also remember the Red Cross taking money from the donations. I also think Red Cross takes a percentage of the money donated for themselves.
I also heard the salvation army is the better route.
