I like these...........
Been out on Dave Laporte's "Desperate One" each weekend for four weeks now. Today was slow but we got a few. Sloppy 4 to 6 with an occasional 8. Not much wind but the swells coming in form the northeast make it lumpy. Last couple weeks it was pink, today they wanted green.

Even though the conditions may suck most of the time we prefer to go out east of Chatham. We tried the CCBay thing and saw tons of fish but they tended to be a lot smaller and very fussy. The water in CCBAY has a slightly different tinge to it and not quite as clear and we like to troll 30lb. class and various rigs rather than drift and wait for them so you could cast a fly or a tin at them. We have had a few exciting run off with fish that were bigger and meaner but the 8/0 didn't hold or get a good set on 'em. One thing peculiar to the east is that when we set the first bar out on the high flier we usually get a run within minutes.
Gotta go way southeast now to get a really good day but the conditions were not really conducive to making a 30 mile ride that way and we didn't have all day to spend so we fished the Crab. Some codfish are starting to show back on the ledge now to. So as Ophelia goes by we intend to go southeast a couple more times before bagging the tuna ops and go back to bassing.
Van see JOSH at CMS in New Bedford. He custom makes a lot of our rigs for us in varying colors and I get my squids there to make up my bars. The guy is a genius when it comes to making up daisys and rigs. He will do it while you wait. Great service there from Charlie and the boys.

Ditto. Charlie, Aaron and the guys at CMS have been making my rods since they opened in, I think it was in 95. I must ave over a dozen both boat and surf. They also re-build my rods every Winter and they are just the best guys to do business with. Ethical, honest, reasonably priced and knowledgable about anything to do with fishing in th salt.

If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.

We only fish three rigs at a time. Depending on the size of the fish mostly it's two 30's and a fifty fished from the rocket launcher on top of the house. Since I am the only that can reach it even standing on the insulated fish box, I get the topside rigging out and rigging in duty. If the fish get a little bigger or we suspect or have been crashed by bigger fish we send out the fifty's and launch the 80 from up top. The rod on top works well right down the middle and we usually have a spreader bar on it and daisy's behind birds or a flock of mini birds and a Green Machine behind the flock rigged singly. I will pm you color schemes and sizes.
